April 3, 2018
April 8-14 is National Library Week, an annual celebration of the life-changing work of libraries, librarians, and library workers. Libraries aren’t just places to borrow books or study—they’re also creative and engaging community centers where people can collaborate using new technologies and develop their skills and passions.
Libraries of all types have been evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Diverse groups including elected officials, small business owners, and students depend on libraries and the resources they offer.
Local branches often offer technology classes to help people brush up on computer skills such as navigating the internet, creating Word documents, and using other business- or school-related software. Taking advantage of these classes could help support your efforts in Maryland EXCELS, as well as supporting the families in your program who may be interested in learning more.
How will you celebrate National Library Week in your program? Share your activities with us at email@example.com for a chance to be featured on the Maryland EXCELS social media pages!
