Creating a Program Improvement Plan

As a family child care provider or staff in a child care center, it is important to focus on continuous improvement of your program. This will promote the success of both the children enrolled and their families. With all of the other tasks required to run a successful program, taking time to identify areas for growth and creating a plan to improve those areas could be overwhelming. The Maryland EXCELS Program Improvement Plan (PIP) is designed to help with this process. The PIP is a tool that helps create and track specific, measurable goals for program improvement over the next 12 months. By using the Maryland EXCELS Self-Assessment results to develop your PIP, you will develop a guide for continuous quality improvement and will identify results to be proud of!

Please refer to the Maryland EXCELS Toolkit for TIPS on creating a program improvement plan for Family Child Care/Child Care Centers or School-Age Only programs.
