Maryland EXCELS offers a variety of resources to support and empower programs to be successful; our goal is to build the capacity of early childhood and school-age child care providers to deliver high quality child care and early education experiences for all children through both informal and formal learning experiences and in online and face-to-face formats.
Maryland EXCELS Work Groups and Training:
Maryland EXCELS Work Groups provide programs and providers participating in Maryland EXCELS the opportunity to work directly with a Quality Assurance Specialist on the development, revision, and submission of documentation for meeting Maryland EXCELS standards.
Maryland EXCELS Training has been approved by the Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care to award Core of Knowledge hours to participants who have met the requirements of the class. Training is focused on helping providers understand the process of quality improvement and the requirements for participating in Maryland EXCELS. It will also help providers identify specific documentation that is needed to achieve a Quality Rating at each level, and set goals for moving forward.
Maryland EXCELS Toolkit – Coming Soon!
The Maryland EXCELS Toolkit provides interactive information and resources in an online format to support goals of making quality improvements in child care and early education programs. The toolkit was developed with its users in mind and through an evaluation and analysis of the specific and individualized needs of programs and providers throughout the state. Resources are designed to guide programs along the path toward becoming a quality rated Maryland EXCELS program through an experience that is logical, practical, and flexible.
Maryland Family Network and The Maryland Child Care Resource Network
The Maryland Child Care Resource Network (MCCRN), coordinated by Maryland Family Network (MFN) is comprised of twelve resource and referral centers (CCRC’s) covering all regions of the state. Each resource center offers training opportunities and technical assistance to child care providers throughout Maryland. Maryland Family Network also publishes the Statewide Training Clearinghouse Calendar, a schedule of trainings approved by the Office of Child Care for new and existing child care providers. The Clearinghouse calendar is published three times per year.
